Hibiscus Ginger Iced Tea
Ingredients:
- 4 cups water
- 4 hibiscus tea bags (or 1/4 cup dried hibiscus flowers)
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 2 limes)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Lime slices (for garnish)
- Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Boil the Water:
- In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Steep the Tea:
- Remove the saucepan from heat and add the hibiscus tea bags or dried hibiscus flowers and the sliced ginger.
- Let the tea and ginger steep in the hot water for about 10 minutes.
- After steeping, remove the tea bags or strain out the hibiscus flowers and ginger slices.
- Sweeten the Tea:
- While the tea is still warm, add the honey or agave syrup.
- Stir until the sweetener is completely dissolved.
- Add Lime Juice:
- Stir in the freshly squeezed lime juice.
- Cool the Tea:
- Add the 4 cups of cold water to the tea mixture to cool it down.
- Allow the tea to reach room temperature, then transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for at least 1-2 hours.
- Serve the Iced Tea:
- Fill glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour the chilled hibiscus ginger iced tea over the ice.
- Garnish with lime slices and fresh mint leaves if desired.
