Mrs Doyle's Recipe: Easy Valentine’s Day Heart-Shaped Strawberry Puff Pastries
Surprise your loved ones with these flaky, buttery pastries filled with sweet strawberry jam. They’re easy to make, require just a few ingredients, and look adorable!
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought, thawed)
- ¼ cup strawberry jam (or your favourite fruit jam)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Fresh strawberries (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter (or a knife) to cut out heart shapes.
3. Add filling: Place a small spoonful of strawberry jam in the centre of half the hearts.
4. Seal the pastries: Place another heart-shaped pastry on top, pressing the edges with a fork.
5. Egg wash: Beat the egg and brush it over the pastries for a golden finish.
6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
7. Cool & decorate: Let them cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar and add fresh strawberry slices for extra charm.
Serving Tip:
Enjoy these with a cup of Mrs Doyle’s Tea for the perfect Valentine’s treat!
